KIDS LEARN TO SAIL PROGRAM

The Somers Cove Yacht Club Sailing School is again offering its “Kids Learn to Sail Program” in the spring and summer of 2008. This is an introductory sailing program geared for children ages 8 to 13. The program can have children sailing in 4 half day sessions.

Sailing is a sport that helps develop self confidence, good judgment and an appreciation for the power of wind and water. For many who are exposed to the sport of sailing it becomes a life long passion of personal challenge, learning, self reliance and the development of friendships with fellow sailors. Learning to sail as a youth can open a world of possibilities that can only be experienced by a sailor. A sailor lives in a world where dreams of sailing on a creek, cruising on our fantastic Chesapeake Bay or making an ocean passage to exotic lands become possible. Kids who prefer competition will find a lot of local racing programs ready for the challenge. More than anything else, learning to sail can lead to a lifetime of good, clean fun.
